New businesses have the same need for quality legal advice as larger, more established enterprises. The Small Business Development Group focuses on providing clients with assistance in addressing those essential issues that are often overlooked by small business owners. Whether advising a client regarding the preparation of a business plan, the optimal business structure for a particular industry, governmental requirements, tax implications, or employee, lease, or technology concerns, the Group’s attorneys understand the unique needs and problems that face small or fledgling companies. SilvermanAcampora’s attorneys provide vital legal advice that is often disregarded by small business owners who cannot afford to expend already scarce resources on counsel whose presence may often be perceived as complicating, rather than resolving, a situation. Rather than preserving resources, the failure to consult a qualified attorney hampers growth in the long term by placing the business on a legally precarious footing that eventually impacts its profitability. SilvermanAcampora’s “business friendly” approach allows our clients to achieve their objectives and to face legal challenges without the concern that the involvement of an attorney will impede, rather than facilitate, success.
The Small Business Development Group offers a retainer arrangement under which qualifying clients pay an annual fee for routine telephone consultations and attorney-client conferences regarding basic corporate, employment, contractual and commercial matters, regardless of the total amount of time expended. Certain specific and routine legal representation, such as the negotiation and documentation of leases and other basic agreements is also covered by the annual retainer. More complex transactions and litigation are subject to SilvermanAcampora’s usual retainer arrangement and are handled by qualified attorneys with reasonable billing rates and the experience necessary to achieve the client’s goals. All matters are conducted under the supervision of a SilvermanAcampora member whose time, for basic representation, is not charged to the client.
Each small business client is assigned one attorney with whom the client can develop a personal relationship and upon whom the client can call for advice and consultation. The strength of the Group, however, is that its clients are not limited to the expertise of a single, responsive and effective attorney, but are able to utilize the full breadth of SilvermanAcampora’s substantial capabilities.
